Obsessed much?

It's summertime again!  After a long, wet spring, we're finally having a summer heatwave.  I don't like heatwaves, so I've been spending most of my time hiding in my cool(er) basement.

We have been "in the middle of moving" for several months now, and in order to have a neat and tidy house for showings, my sewing room was packed away.  I can't tell you what 9 months of withdrawl feels like, because there are just no words.  Suffice it to say that I've been happier!

As I mentioned last summer, I've taken up knitting.  After a few chemo caps, I got a little more serious.  I've made myself a pair of socks, a very warm winter sweater, and am working on a cardigan.  I've also made a couple of Christmas gifts, and am in the middle of a third.  I can't say what they are - the recipients are likely to read this!  It has helped my crafting/creative self to survive the sewing and quilting drought.  Oh, I did make a quilt with a friend, also for a gift :)  I'm really looking forward to the Knit in the Park event again.  This year's project is comfort or prayer shawls.  I can't wait!

So, the obsession!  How do you combine sewing and knitting, you might ask?  Well, you make a bag for your knitting projects, of course!!  I have been drooling over a market bag on Etsy, but the price is quite astounding.  I think I can make a similar one myself.  It's been burbling along in my head for some time now, and very soon I'm going to felt some of the several metres of melton wool in my stash, and give it a try.  I want a simple bag, with pockets inside, that stands up on it's own, and doesn't have any zippers or velcro to catch my wool.  I'm thinking of using Kasha satin to line it with, as wool likes to slide nicely along satin.  If I don't do that, I'll make some smaller matching project bags (drawstring) and line them with the Kasha.  Also have several metres of that in my stash!  I knew one day it would all become useful :)

If/when I have success with my bag(s), I'll be posting the pattern.  Free of course!  I like free!

Hope you're having a wonderful season, wherever you are, and that every day is Sew Sew!
